Questions

I can’t read any Arabic. Is this for me?

Yes. The course starts from zero. You speak in Lesson 1 using transliteration, then learn every letter in Lessons 2 to 5. By Lesson 6 you are reading real words on your own.

Is it Modern Standard Arabic or Saudi dialect?

Modern Standard Arabic (Fuṣḥā), the Arabic of books, news and formal speech, understood in every Arab country. In a few lessons the course also shows how the same thing is said in everyday Saudi Arabic.

Will this help me read the Qur’an?

It’s a strong first step. Modern Standard Arabic shares its alphabet, vowel marks and core grammar with the Arabic of the Qur’an, and you will learn to read fully vowelled text. This is a language course, not a tajweed course.

What language is it taught in?

Simple, clear English. Every Arabic phrase also has a transliteration and an English meaning, so English doesn’t have to be your first language.

How long does it take?

12 lessons of 8 to 12 minutes, plus a worksheet each. Go at your own pace; two lessons a week gets you through in about six weeks.

How do I join and pay?
